Both the ISO 9000 and the ISO 14000 series have critics and proponents. Essentially, ISO 14000 is a series of international, voluntary environmental management standards as well as guides and technical reports. It specifies the requirements for establishing an Environmental policy determining the environmental impacts of products or services, planning environmental objectives, implementing programs to meet the various objectives, and conducting corrective action and management review.
